The Canadian Blood Services Plasma Centre is now open at Place d’Orléans besides the Mark’s and facing the 174. I was pleased to tour and meet volunteers at its opening on the 9th. Thank you to the organizers, Peter Maharaj and everyone who made the Indo-Caribbean Cultural Show a success. We also had the pleasure of having delicious food by Host India! ![]() The Blackburn FunFaire Parade celebrated it’s 50th year! It was a pleasure to see everyone’s smiling faces at the Blackburn FunFair Parade on June 4th! Thank you to everyone who came out for the activities! ![]() I participated in the Miracle League of Ottawa’s Paralympic Athlete celebration and open house. It was a pleasure to celebrate our local Paralympic athletes that participated in the Tokyo 2020 games and the Beijing 2022 games and visit the Miracle Leagues facilities! Great start to the baseball season in Orléans! ![]() I attended the RGA’s Horizon 2022 Gala to celebrate the contributions of the National Capital’s business community. The theme of the evening was “An Opportunity to Rethink the Future” and featured the 2022 award winners. Congratulations to all winners for this recognition and resilience! ![]() I was pleased to join my colleagues on June 9th at Ottawa City Hall to raise the Italian flag, officially kicking off Ottawa’s Italian Week! ![]() Thank you to Olenka Bastian for welcoming us this morning at the opening of the Maidan Market in the Westgate Shopping Mall. This is a great initiative and partnership between the Ottawa Ukrainian Canadian Congress and Ottawa Community Foundation in support of Ukrainians and is made possible because of the generosity of Ottawans. During the opening, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress launched a major fundraising campaign for settlement development. Donate here! ![]() ![]() On June 6th, I announced a $1.5 million investment to build on the work of the National Newcomer Navigation Network to eliminate barriers to working in Canada faced by internationally educated health care professional along with helping internationally. educated health care professionals fill key positions in the health care sector. Read more here! ![]() On May 29th, I joined my colleagues, Minister Mélanie Joly, and MPs Sameer Zuberi and Francis Scarpaleggia to welcome 306 Ukrainians arriving in Montreal on chartered flights through the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel. Welcome to Canada! ![]() This week, the government launched the Age Well at Home Initiative. This will help support seniors with at-home tasks ranging from home maintenance, transportation, meal preparation, help with groceries, to snow plowing. The calls for proposals for eligible organizations are open until July 22, 2022. Check your passport expiration day Renew your passport 3-4 months in advance to ensure you receive your passport on time House of Commons Statement in the House of Commons I had the pleasure to rise in the House of commons to celebrate the accomplishments of Orléans resident Stephen Poloz, finalist for the Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing and to highlight the story of the Prokhorovych family who arrived in Orléans through the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel. ![]() It was a pleasure to meet my colleagues in constituting the Canada-Slovenia Parliamentary Friendship Group. It was also delightful to have Slovenia’s Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Andrej Rode to join in and discuss the strong political and diplomatic ties between Canada and Slovenia. ![]() It was a pleasure to participate as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship in the Prix Boréal 2022 Gala of the Fédération des communautés Francophones et Acadienne du Canada (FCFA). Congratulations to MIFO, winner of the Inclusion Award, for its contribution to improving the situation of Francophone immigrant women in Ontario. ![]() It was great to meet with the Salvation Army to discuss the great work that they have done to welcome Ukrainians refugees to Canada and help them adjust to their new lives. ![]() As part of the 2022 Parliamentarians for Peace programme (P4P), we held our third working session on the theme “Are future generations going to set up the post-2030 Agenda on a democratic ground.” We had a great and engaging discussion! ![]() It was great to participate in Project Ramadan this year and build food baskets for those in need this morning. Thank you to Muslim Welfare Canada for organizing this wonderful initiative in Collaboration with the Ottawa Food Bank, Minister Omar Alghabra and Senator Salma Ataullahjan. ![]() As Co-Chairs, MP Stéphane Lauzon and I joined Minister Pablo Rodriguez at the War Museum to unveil the Canada Day 2022 programming! This year’s Canada day festivities will take place at two locations: Lebreton Flats and Places des festivals Zibi. ![]() Congratulations to Stephen Blais for being re-elected as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Orléans! This summer, take the time to discover the beautiful sceneries in the East-end like Petrie Island, where water sports and nature blend together! ![]() On June 1st, MP Francis Drouin and I raised a glass to celebrate World Milk Day and salute the hard work of dairy farmers, along with the efforts of the dairy industry to reduce their environmental footprint. Thank you to all our dairy producers! ![]() As we concluded Haitian Heritage Month in May, I hope that the Haitian community in Orléans had a chance to celebrate the culture and traditions of Haiti. L’initiative permettra d’aider les aînés à effectuer des tâches à domicile telles que l’entretien de la maison, le transport, la préparation des repas, l’aide à l’épicerie, etc. Les appels à propositions pour les organisations admissibles finiront 22 juillet 2022.
