To all the mothers in Orléans, I hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day, surrounded by your loved ones and family.
I am pleased to share with you that we are welcoming two Orléans residents, Nodin Nganji and Jélila Ghogomu, to our team for the summer months through the Summer Leadership Program.
Moreover, the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Program has allowed 41 young talented women to flee the war for a short period of time to come to Canada for an internship. Until the end of June, they are being paired with interested members of parliament to experience our democratic system. I am very humble to introduce Alina Marchenko, Ukrainian national, to our Hill office.
I want to take the opportunity for this monthly column to recognized some of our community members for their generosity, volunteerism, engagement, and services to our country.
It was great to join Orléans veterans on April 30th at the 98th Commemoration Dinner of the Royal Canadian Air Force Orléans Branch 632. I took the opportunity to thank President Ken Green and congratulate the incoming president as of June 1st, Dianne Higgins.
On May 4th, I joined M. Claude L’Heureux, owner of the Canadian Tire store on Innes Road, and representatives of the Montfort Hospital and Foundation as he presented a cheque of
$100,000 dollars for the Orléans Health Hub.
As a Rotarian myself, I want to congratulate Orléans residents and fellow Rotarians Julia Ginley & Gayle Oudeh for receiving the Paul Harris Society Fellowship Award by local resident and District Governor Fay Campbell at the District Conference on May 7th.
As you may know, this year marks the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II celebrating the 70th anniversary of her accession to the Throne. As a Member of Parliament, I would like to invite you to nominate outstanding community leaders that have dedicated years of engagement in Orléans. Please send a short email explaining the reason of your nomination. I will be presenting a Platinum Jubilee Pins to the successful recipients.
With restrictions being lifted more activities and event are taking place in our beautiful community.
